Off to Travemünde

Bike Tour Between Hanseatic City and Sea – Nature, Culture, and Coastal Charm

Our scenic bike tour begins in Lübeck and leads us straight to the Baltic Sea resort of Travemünde. We leave the Hanseatic city via a commercial area with a well-developed cycle path and follow the course of the River Trave. Along the way, we pass historic Old Lübeck and reach the district of Dänischburg.

We continue along quiet forest paths to a beautifully situated picnic spot – a short break with self-catering is planned here. The route then leads us through the peaceful Waldhusener Forest and along little-used country roads through charming villages toward the coast.

Upon arrival in Travemünde, we dismount and walk our bicycles through the lively promenade area. Here, we enjoy the special seaside atmosphere on foot – with its elegant villas, inviting cafés, and bustling restaurants. We then resume cycling along the redesigned beachfront promenade and continue on to the Kaiserallee. This tree-lined avenue, bordered by impressive mansions in the traditional seaside resort architecture style, provides a particularly picturesque finale to our tour.

Our joint ride concludes at the Strandbahnhof (beach station). Afterwards, you have the opportunity to explore Travemünde on your own – perhaps with a stroll along the beach, a visit to the historic town center, or a stop at the famous four-masted barque Passat.

For the return journey to Lübeck, you can choose between a convenient train connection or a scenic boat ride along the Trave River.
